2020 June Fishing Events Cancelled

A message from Tammi Miller, organizer of the annual Kids Learn to Fish classes and the Father’s Day Fishing Derby.

Due to the current Covid situation and restrictions we unfortunately have to cancel this year’s Kids Learn to Fish classes and Father’s Day Fishing Derby.

I want to thank all of the sponsors that have helped make these events possible through the years and I look forward to celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Kids Learn to Fish program with all of you next year.

Although we cannot do these events this year, I want to encourage you to get outside and fish our lakes and rivers this summer. I would love to see some of your local summer fishing pictures that we could share on our Facebook page. So in unofficial honour of Kids Learn to Fish 10th anniversary Backcountry will be giving away a FREE Eaqle Claw lure set to the first 100 kids that stop by the store or email us their fishing picture and tell us about their adventure. Pictures and stories can be emailed to Tammi at fishing@backcountryfsj.com

You may know that the BC Government added hunting and angling to the list of essential services. Hunting and angling are important parts of life for hundreds of thousands of British Columbians, providing not only food security, but also improved mental and physical health and stronger family bonds. Please take the time to contact our MLA Dan Davies (dan.davies.MLA@leg.bc.ca), Minister who oversees hunting and angling Doug Donaldson (FLNR.Minister@gov.bc.ca), and the Premier (premier@gov.bc.ca) for supporting hunting and angling.

Have a great summer and have fun enjoying the outdoor adventures!
