Bill 4 is law as of March 25, but we are not sure when the government plans to start enforcing parts or all of the bill. While this bill is aimed at criminal activity, it has implications for hunters and shooting range operators such as the North Peace Rod and Gun Club. The BC NDP and BC Liberal Party are telling us not to worry and that hunters and ranges will be looked after in the accompanying regulations that have yet to be drafter. As a club, we are a more than a little cynical about this approach and have strongly encouraged government to collaborate with gun clubs and the BCWF when creating regulations. Copies of the letter will also be sent to MLA Mike Morris and Minister Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
